Terrella collects nothing.

That is the whole policy. The rest of this page explains why it can be stated so plainly, and what happens to the information you put into the app.

No data is collected

Terrella does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal information. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. No third-party services are embedded in the app.

The app has no network access

Terrella is sandboxed by macOS and is not granted the network entitlement, so the operating system itself denies it any outbound connection. This is not a promise about our intentions, but a restriction enforced by macOS that the app cannot bypass. Terrella works normally with networking switched off entirely.

Where your information lives

Everything you enter is stored in a single SQLite database file inside the app's sandbox container on your Mac, along with automatic backups of that file. Nothing is stored anywhere else. You can see the file at any time with View ▸ Reveal Database in Finder, and export the entire contents as readable JSON with File ▸ Export Graph.

Because the data never leaves your Mac, it is covered by whatever backup arrangements you already use, such as Time Machine, or iCloud Drive backups of your Mac. Those are yours, and governed by their own terms.

Contacts

Terrella can optionally read your macOS address book, so that importing a contact creates a person, the organisation they work for, and the relationship between them.

This is entirely optional. The app is fully functional if you never grant it.
Contact information is read only when you choose File ▸ Import from Contacts.
What is read is written into your local database and nowhere else. It is not transmitted, because the app cannot transmit anything.
Imported records are tagged with their origin, so File ▸ Remove Imported Contacts removes precisely what the import created and nothing you entered yourself.
You can revoke access at any time in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Contacts.

Files you choose

Exporting or importing a graph opens the standard macOS file panel. Terrella can read and write only the specific file you select there, and has no other access to your disk.

Children

Terrella is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date above. Any change that affected what the app does with your information would also require a new version of the app, reviewed by Apple, which you would have to choose to install.
